polka anyone?

Thursday some friends and I planned to meet at a lil bar on the outskirts of the entertainment district near my house for a German folk music show. 5 german university students happened to be passing through town and did a free show that was so entertaining. There was an accordion, guitar, mandolin, bagpipes, stand up base, violin and a few other instruments I didn:t recognize. They played everything from polka to the obligatory stand up and cheers and slosh your beers out of their mugs kinda songs. They had a Japanese journalist with them that translated real time their English/German into Japanese which was nearly as impressive as the show. glad i:m beginning to discover where the live music is in town. as with anything wlse, it:s just a matter of knowing where to look and who to ask.
